RESOLUTION
Whereas,
it is estimated that about 16% of our total population is of
Haitian descent and make their home in the Town of Randolph;
and
Whereas,
the people of Haiti and their friends and families
throughout the world have been tragically impacted, either
directly or indirectly, by the earthquake of January 12,
2010; and
Whereas,
the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of the
victims of the January 12th earthquake
will likely last for a long time to come; and
Whereas,
we as a government and a community have a moral
responsibility to support our fellowmen in their time of
need:
Therefore,
Be it Resolved,
that the Randolph Town Council encourages all the residents
and businesses of Randolph to bolster relief efforts in
support of the Haitian community not only in Haiti but
within the Town of Randolph as well.
And,
Be it Further Resolved,
that the Town of Randolph and the Randolph Town Council
encourage support of the local non-profit "Randolph
4 Haiti"
in its efforts to provide sustained relief for the physical,
emotional, and psychological needs of the Haitian people
here in Randolph and in their homeland of Haiti.
